get the grid view by default – Sight 1.0.1 Wpshower Theme Part III

Thanks to the comment by Annie I – once again – looked into the grid view matter. Unfortunately the Sight theme has only received one update (1.0.1) since its initial release in November 2010 and is somewhat outdated. It looks like WPShower is not active anymore (the forum is madly spammed and the last tweet is from late 2011).

New Version

So I have somewhat redone the grid-list-jquery and put it in a separate file. The script now checks if the cookies already exists (this is what caused the problem before, because the cookie was only set after the first page load). All the hover effects and the toggle are now working.

Files

You can download the files here. Simply unpack the archive and overwrite these files in your /wp-contents/themes/ folder. (I have only added the files I made changes to.)

Demo

I hope this helps everyone who is still using this theme. You can see the working demo here: http://grid.alpipego.com/, the previous posts can be found at Part I and Part II.

Hi, the link to the sight theme zip file doesn’t work anymore :( Is there any way you could get the link back up? pretty pretty please? :)

      Hey Ian,
sorry for that. It is fixed now.

      • ian says:

No need to say sorry!! I should be saying thanks… which is why I’m typing this comment lol! Seriously, thanks so much for this, you didn’t have to update the link.. it truly means a lot to me :)
Now I just need to find out how to make it go into list view for phones / mobile… hmm.

          Hi ian,
as I said the theme really needs an update. Actually it should be completely redone. Unfortunately wpshower.com is dead (as are their twitter and facebook accounts and the wpshower forums) and the theme does not have a license. So I don’t know if I am allowed to take their theme and transform it into a “modern” and responsive theme.
          Would love to so, though.

Thank you very much! I never figure this out myself. I am still inexperienced and new with wordpress. I’ve even never made a comment on a postbefore. But now I realy need to thank you. :-)

would love it if you took it over, please don’t give up. I’m a relative beginner with this, and I’ve been having a hell of a time trying to make the slideshow touch sensitive, getting the featured image to just crop instead of squeeze… thanks again for these posts!

    hey srdr,
send me a link to yoursite and I’ll see what I can do.

If you have something to say...
